The biggest bug here is binary thinking. One can still use Web3, Dapps, etc. and decide whether to maintain the control over private keys or give up the custody.

Agree and I think that's why the VC participation in creating companies that consumers trust with keys is at least not evil. Users that want decentralized solutions will have options as will consumers that want centralized options with different features.
